Emily McMehen
Emily is an artist and writer living and working between Toronto and London, UK. She has exhibited film and video work internationally since 2002, including at Oberhausen Kurzfilmtage, Sheffield Doc Fest, Cannes Film Festival, the Venice Biennale and in conjunction with the Ghetto Biennale in Port-au-Prince. She has made five films that explore the boundaries between documentary and abstract cinema, and her work emphasizes cross-cultural collaboration and comprehensive skill-sharing as a part of the creative process. She has lectured on her work and methods at Mansfield College, Oxford University, the MFA/PhD Yale Summer School Program at the Paul Mellon Centre in London, 92Y Tribeca in New York and at Goldsmiths College, University of London. She has published multiple texts on the philosophy of the moving image and is currently developing her first, scripted feature film with Geoffrey Sautner.
